Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 October 2026
Answered is a private app for small prayer groups. Everything in it belongs to the group you are in, and nothing in it is sold, advertised against, or shared outside the services listed below that are needed to run it.
The short version. We collect what you type into your profile, what you post in your groups, and your phone number so you can sign in. Only the members of your groups can see it. There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no third party buying any of it. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time.
What we collect
- Your phone number, because it is how you sign in. There is no password.
- Your profile, all of it optional except your name: the city and state you live in, where you are originally from, your age, whether you are married, your children's ages and whether each is a boy or a girl, your t-shirt size, and your mailing address.
- What you post in a group: messages, photos, videos, voice notes, prayer requests, answers to prayer, testimonies, reflections, events and who is coming to them.
- Written transcripts of voice notes, so a voice note can be read as well as heard.
- A notification token for your device, so your phone can be told when something happens in your group.
- Which groups you belong to, and any scripture you save.
What we do not collect
Answered contains no analytics, no advertising, and no crash-reporting or behaviour-tracking software of any kind. It does not read your contacts, track your location, or follow you across other apps and websites. Nobody is profiled, scored, or marketed to.
Who can see what you put in
Your profile and your posts are visible to the members of the groups you have joined, and to nobody else. A group's administrator can see a list of members' names and mailing addresses, which exists so a group can send one of its own something. Your mailing address and phone number are optional — leave them blank and nothing in the app suffers.
Services we rely on
Running the app means some of this passes through other companies. These are all of them.
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase | Your phone number, profile, posts, photos, videos and voice notes | Sign-in, storage and delivery — this is where the app's data lives |
| Google Cloud Speech-to-Text | The audio of a voice note | To write out what was said |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Voice-note transcripts, prayer text when you ask for a summary, and the web addresses of links shared in a group | To tidy a transcript, summarise prayers when asked, and sort shared links into the group's library. The daily devotional is written from scripture alone and contains nothing about anybody. |
| LiveKit | Audio and video while a call is in progress | To connect group and one-to-one calls. Calls are not recorded or stored. |
| Expo | Your notification token and the text of a notification | To deliver push notifications and app updates |
None of these companies is permitted to use your information for their own purposes, and none of it is sold or shared for advertising.
Children
Answered is for adults and is not directed to children under 13. Children do not have accounts. If you enter your own children's ages, that is part of your profile, visible to your group in the same way the rest of it is, and you can remove it at any time.
Keeping and deleting your information
What you post stays until you or your group delete it. You can delete your whole account from inside the app — open the You tab and tap Delete my account at the bottom.
When you do, your profile and your sign-in are deleted outright: your name, phone number, city, age, family, shirt size, mailing address, notification token, saved verses and inbox. You are removed from your groups.
Prayers you posted and the answers to them stay with your group, because they are part of that group's record of what God has done and other men's prayers are bound up in them — but your name comes off them. There is nothing left tying them to you.
Full instructions, including what to do if you can no longer open the app, are on the account deletion page.
Scripture
Bible text in the app is the World English Bible, which is in the public domain. Where the New International Version is quoted, it is used within the non-commercial allowance granted by Biblica.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything significant will be said in the app rather than left here to be discovered.
